Short answers to the questions people actually ask.

Windows says “Windows protected your PC”. Is it safe?

Windows shows this for new apps that aren't signed with a paid certificate yet. Click More info, then Run anyway. You only have to do it once.

To check that your file is the one we published, compare its SHA-256 checksum with the one on the download section. In PowerShell: Get-FileHash .\IceCore-1.0.0-portable.exe

Do I need to install anything?

No. IceCore is a single file: double-click it and it runs. It downloads the right Java for each Minecraft version by itself.

Put the file wherever you like (Desktop, a Games folder) and pin it to the taskbar.

Can I play without a Microsoft account?

Yes: type a username and you can play singleplayer, LAN worlds and servers running in offline mode. Online-mode servers (most public servers) require signing in with Microsoft.

You need to own Minecraft: Java Edition to play. Offline mode is there for convenience, not to replace buying the game.

How do mods work?

Open the library (the grid icon), pick Mods, Packs or Shaders, and click Get. IceCore installs Fabric when a mod needs it, adds required dependencies, and turns resource packs and shaders on for you.

When you change Minecraft version, your mods are updated. If a mod doesn't exist for that version yet, it's set aside and comes back once it does.

How do I change my skin?

Click your character on the home screen, or drop a 64×64 PNG on it. With a Microsoft account the skin is uploaded to your Minecraft profile. Offline, it's saved on your PC and shown in-game when you play with Fabric.

How do I get more FPS?

Switch the version to Fabric and keep the Performance pack on (Sodium, Lithium, FerriteCore). In Settings, give Minecraft 4 to 6 GB of memory: more than that rarely helps. Optimized JVM settings are on by default.

Where are my worlds and files?

Game files, worlds and mods: %APPDATA%\.icecore
Launcher settings, accounts and logs: %APPDATA%\IceCore

Both open from Settings → System. You can also point IceCore at another game folder in Settings → Game.

The game won't start. What now?

Open Settings → System → Logs and look at the last lines. Common fixes: lower the memory, turn off a mod you just added, or remove a custom Java path to go back to automatic. The full log file is in %APPDATA%\IceCore\logs.

How do I uninstall it?

Settings → System → Uninstall IceCore. It removes the launcher, its data and every downloaded version. Leave “Keep my worlds” ticked and your worlds are copied to the Desktop first. A game folder you picked yourself is never deleted.

How do updates work?

When a new version is out, a small “Update” button appears at the top of the launcher. It opens this site so you can download it. Nothing is installed behind your back.

Privacy

The launcher has no analytics, no ads and no account with us. Your settings, accounts and skins stay on your computer; Microsoft sign-in tokens are encrypted by Windows.

To work, it talks to these services directly: Mojang and Microsoft (game files, Java, sign-in, skins), FabricMC (Fabric) and Modrinth (mods, packs, shaders). Their own privacy policies apply. It also fetches icecore.fun/latest.json at startup to check for updates.
